Service Day at Duke Forest

posted Jan 17, 2012 7:36 PM by Triangle SCB

The Triangle chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology is hosting an afternoon of service in Duke Forest followed by a free cookout.

Meet at 1pm, Saturday, Jan. 21st at the Rigsbee Shelter at Gate F off of NC751 in Durham. See attached map.

We'll pull loblolly pine seedlings out of longleaf pine restoration experimental plots from 1-4. Sara Childs, program director of Duke Forest, will be on hand to answer questions about the research and conservation programs at Duke Forest. Bring work gloves, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water.

After the work, we'll return to the Rigsbee Shelter for a free cookout and bonfire. We will provide the food and firewood. Bring your own drinks.

Please RSVP to Jennifer (jenn.f.moore@gmail.com) by Wednesday, January 18th so that we can plan for food.
